Penny Stocks Lab Inaugural Scholarship Contest
Penny Stocks Lab is proud to announce our inaugural undergraduate scholarship contest. Our annual scholarship contest provides $1,000 cash prize to the winner of an essay contest. This year’s scholarship contest requires students to respond to the prompt written below in a thoughtful, well-crafted short essay of 1,000 words or less. We encourage any student with an interest in finance, penny stocks, investing, or trading to enter for a chance to support their education with our $1,000 scholarship.
Financial literacy is a term that is commonly used to describe an individual’s knowledge and understanding of financial matters. Due to the complex nature of our economy, the implications of possessing ‘financial literacy’ have become increasingly relevant. With the overly broad definition of the term in mind, discuss, in 1,000 words or less, what financial literacy means to you and how you foresee it impacting your post-graduate life.

1. Essays must be submitted electronically as either a Word document or a PDF.
2. Essays must be written solely in English.
3. Each contestant is only allowed to submit one essay.
4. Essays must reflect their own research, writing and original thinking, and not be published elsewhere.
5. Submissions are limited to 1,000 words.
6. Submissions that contain incomplete entry forms will be automatically disqualified.
Winner: $1,000 USD
Who is eligible to apply?
All undergraduate students currently attending an accredited four-year college or university.
Are international students eligible?
If the international student is currently attending an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. they are eligible.
When is the deadline for entry?
All essays must be submitted by December 31, 2013 in order to be considered.
When will the winner be chosen?
The winning essay will be determined one week after the scholarship deadline. At that time, the winner will be notified and requested to provide the required documents to confirm their eligibility. Once their eligibility has been confirmed, the winner will be announced on this page.
How are the essays judged?
The essays are evaluated based on their clarity, logic of ideas, creativity, and originality.
How does the winner receive their scholarship?
The $1000 cash prize is sent by certified check to the winner’s college or university.

(b) Copyright Assignment
(c) IRS Form W-9
(d) Form 1099-Misc
(e) Copy of United States Driver’s License or Passport
